2025 Standards Revisions

CSEA is pleased to release revised Standards for Reporting Employment Data for Full-time MBA, Part-time MBA, and Specialty Master's Programs. The revisions are the result of a multi-year effort which included market research, global member feedback surveys, in-person and virtual workshops, and a significant investment of time on the part of CSEA volunteers and staff. The goal for the revisions was to update the Standards according to notable, ongoing changes in the recruitment marketplace, clarify frequent questions and concerns from CSEA members, and provide additional consistency across all documents. The documents were also reformatted for clarity and readability.

The new Standards go into effect beginning with the graduating class of 2026 (students graduating between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026).

If you have any questions or concerns about the revised Standards, please contact CSEA Standards Consultant, Beth Ursin.

Why Follow the Standards?

Owned and copyrighted by CSEA, the Standards are the platform by which business schools on a global scale can capture, analyze and distribute employment information about graduating students in a transparent, consistent and comparable way to internal and external stakeholders. The Standards were created and are continuously reviewed by business school career center professionals, who have the most up-to-date and relevant knowledge about the industry, outcomes, and uses of the data. The impact of the Standards can be seen across multiple stakeholders and purposes:
  • They allow for accurate year-over-year comparison for business school internal benchmarking and trend analysis
  • The allow prospective students, employers, and other external stakeholders to obtain accurate and comparable data across multiple schools
  • They provide a framework for vendors who develop products to assist schools with data collection and reporting
  • They are used to calculate some data for various business school rankings institutions

2025 Revision Process and Timeline

The Standards Committee conducts a review of the Standards for potential updates approximately every 4 - 5 years. A Standards revision is a significant investment of time and resources on the part of CSEA, member schools, licensed vendors, and other constituents, and therefore revisions are only made when determined necessary due to a significant and ongoing change in industry trends and/or continuous requests from the membership.
