Assistant Career Program Director, Engineering MBA
 

A Glimpse of the Job

We're seeking an Assistant Program Director with a passion for mentorship and training for our Engineering MBA Students. You'll advise and provide career coaching to a select group of exceptional engineering students as they pursue their Engineering MBA. Our Engineering MBA program is a unique, tailored opportunity for Texas A&M’s B.S. Engineering graduates as they take their career to the next level with an MBA degree from Mays Business School. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity as you will advise/guide this small cohort of graduate students in self-awareness, career evaluation, and much more. And you'll develop and deliver career management programs providing information and the needed skills as students transition from a technical to a business-oriented career trajectory.

 

Your Opportunity to Contribute

  • Career Coaching/Advising - Individually and in affinity groups, work with early career MBA students transitioning directly from Engineering undergraduate programs to support their growth along a career development path. Advise and guide in areas including self-awareness, career awareness, interest, fit, and skills. Review, assess, and provide students with constructive feedback on progress and actions in each career development area. Work with students to guide, critique, and revise multiple forms of written & verbal communication. Coach/advise students in resume/cover letter/LinkedIn profile development, interview preparation, networking skills, professional presence, elevator pitch, personal brand development, and how to translate technical skills into business competencies.

  • Education/Training - Delivers state-of-the-art career education and readiness programs for engineering-focused MBA students. Sets new standards in career education and preparation. Provides students with lifelong career management skills, emphasizing the transition from a technical to a business-oriented career path.

  • Career Program Operations - Coordinate continuous improvement of the career programing. Carry out and oversee ongoing and recurring career program operation activities to include compiling and distributing resume books, administering relevant employment websites, career data management, preparing employer materials, and other operational and administrative tasks as assigned. Collaborate with employers to develop opportunities suited for students transitioning from engineering to business roles.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Business, Human Resource Management, or applicable field

  • Six years of program coordination or closely related experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent decision-making skills with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of word and spreadsheet applications

  • Career Advising / Coaching / Mentoring

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Engineering Programs in higher education

  • Experience with hiring Engineering candidates

  • Professional experience in career services or providing academic support for career path planning

  • Some leadership experience

  • Professional experience guiding students’ career development and career decision-making

  • Professional experience as a recruiter with talent acquisition emphasis

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office facets

  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent written, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
