Subject to change!
Monday, 8 April
9:30 - 10:30
Keynote Speaker: Ade McCormack, Founder, Digital Readiness Institute
Talent 4.0
The transition from the industrial era to the digital age is giving rise to profound changes; much more profound than terms such as the 4th Industrial Revolution imply. Simply attaching emerging tech to your existing business model will not be enough to thrive in the digital age.
In this session, we will explore the transitional implications in respect of business models, work and leadership. We will learn that despite the relentless march of new technology, it will be the cognitive capabilities of people that will provide the greatest competitive advantage for the foreseeable future. Cognitive capital, along with data capital, are two new critical asset classes for the digital age.
In this keynote, we will learn that the future of business is strongly correlated to the future of talent, which in turn lies at the convergence of technology, anthropology, biology and neuroscience.
By the end of this keynote, you will see the future in a new light and will feel empowered to capitalise on what is increasingly an unknowable future.
11:15 - 12:30
Breakout Session A
- AI & Recruitment: Let’s open the black box and get insights from an expert
Anna Riepe, Careers Advisor, Vlerick Business School and Mo Moubarak, MoBerries
There are many new platforms and services coming forward, linking HR and AI. Cut through the noise regarding "matching", machine learning, and other buzz words. During this interactive workshop, a Berlin-based tech start-ups, MoBerries, will explain how algorithms can make recruitment processes more efficient and less time-consuming. ‘Skip the job search – get matched instead’ – let’s find out how MoBerries does the magic, what other trends are happening in the market, what kind of pitfalls and limits come with the new tools, and how our students can best use those technologies and platforms to maximise their chances of getting hired. We encourage you to bring questions regarding, providers, best practices and how you are building your recruitment stack.
- Futurefit: Developing a futureproofed employability strategy
Martin Edmondson, CEO Gradcore and Lisa Umenyiora, Director of Careers, Imperial College Business School
Employability has moved from the margins to centre stage, bringing with it huge opportunities and challenges for careers teams. In parallel, the world of work is changing rapidly, with the skills and competencies needed to be successful changing with it. This session will explore how to develop an employability strategy that can cope with the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environment we operate in – drawing on ideas from employers, academics and careers services. It will also involve a crowd sourcing experiment, where we draw on the wisdom of the room to consider future graduate skills needs and how these can be best supported. In particular, the session will draw on work done by Gradcore with more than 50 universities and multiple employers across the UK and Europe. Examples of good (and bad) practice will be cited, and these will be drawn together to explore what the core components of a futureproofed employability strategy should look like.
- Finding Meaning in Work: 5 Moves to Make Your Career Matter
Jennifer Murphy, Assistant Dean of Career Management, Ohio University College of Business
There is a lot of buzz around the desire for purpose in the workplace. The desire for meaning is intergenerational and critical for employees to remain engaged. How do you achieve purposeful, productive, and meaningful work? We will approach the answer to this by exploring talents and discovering 5 moves to make moments matter at work: Show Up (Engagement), Change the Lens (Perspective), Suspend Self-Interest (Selflessness), Own It (Accountability), and Up Your Game (Improvement). Whether you are coaching MBA/Masters students or interns to find meaning in their work, or maybe even need to help yourself or your team reconnect to meaning, this session will provide specific strategies to help others find meaning. This session will open with an overview of engagement/disengagement commonly found in the workplace. Next, key lessons learned will be shared that will challenge assumptions and reframe issues to bring productivity possibilities to light.

Join us in finding the solutions together. In this interactive workshop, you will have an opportunity to share your challenges and solutions with engaging students in using online resources and services. Emlyon will share the challenges and solutions regarding how they first integrated online services into their IMBA and Masters programmes by offering a blended solution with both face-to-face and online career services. Career Farm will share their findings regarding how to improve engagement from their clients including business schools who have built their own online programmes, as well as corporates such as Amazon. - The Personal Branding Canvas
Luigi Centenaro, Managing Partner, Big Name and Sabyne Moras, Head of Career Services, SDA Bocconi
If you're tired of reading articles that talk about personal branding without explaining how to do it, then it's time to take action. Join our workshop about the Personal Branding Canvas, a completely free visual tool used by thousands of people around the world – the simplest and most practical resource you can easily adopt to help your students to discover and communicate their promise of value, to differentiate themselves in a relevant way and to manage their professional image even without advanced marketing skills. “I believe that to survive the new industrial revolution it is no longer enough to train and develop new skills. Employees must reinvent themselves, create new value, learn to communicate effectively and continuously vary their professional strategy. We all need to move from professional development to professional innovation", Luigi Centenaro.
- It's all in chaos! The challenges of the future of work, and what we can do to stay ahead of the robots
Stephanie Shaw, Deputy Director, Henley Business School
This workshop is based on ground-breaking research that describes attributes people need for a dynamic, chaotic and uncertain new world of work with AI and robots present. Workers now face increasing uncertainty and disruption, and it is affecting health, wellbeing, and productivity. The need for a better approach to career development and recruitment is critical to enable us to tackle the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) with tools and insights. The study shows the differentiated qualities between the people that adapted to change and the future of work skills, comparing "changers" (the dynamic career people) and those that opted for certainty, or "stayers" (the traditional career people). These findings can be adapted and delivered by participants to develop capability in dealing with the influence of a changing world of work.
- StoryListening for Career Change
Manuella Arulnayagam, Career Development Center Associate Director, IESE Business School
Career Teams across B-Schools face a unique and consistent challenge between 'scale' and 'customisation'. How do we build a system which allows a large number of students to get the value of intangible tools such as 'StoryTelling' or 'Personal Branding', yet somehow ensure that each student's unique story is celebrated? One of the key challenges is the 'telling' part of 'storytelling', where we have seen it is easy to "talk" to hundreds of students about these ideas but it is not effective, as it sacrifices customisation. In this session, the attendees will learn about a new and powerful way of building their elevator pitch and discover ways to to apply these tools with their students.
13:15 - 14:45
Keynote Speaker: Kriti Sharma, CEO & Founder, AI for Good, LTD
The Ethics of using AI in Recruitment & Talent Management
Artificial intelligence is making many decisions about us everyday. In this fascinating and surprising talk, Kriti Sharma, a global leader in the field of AI, will discuss its potential future impact on society, and how we should be more afraid of our own biases than the so-called ‘robot apocalypse’.This is crucial to understanding recruitment and talent management , and Kriti will share the results of her research in this area.
We will discuss how to design AI technology that benefits society, what standards to put in place, and how to be human in the digital age. This session will focus on developing a deeper understanding of the opportunities and risks presented by Artificial Intelligence in the workplace and society. We will also explore the skills needed and the future of work.
By the end of this session, you will get a clearer understanding of what AI can do for society and business, beyond the hype.

- Bridging from Hi-Tech to Hi-Touch
Evelyne Franzon, Assistant Director, INSEAD Career Development Centre and Katja Boytler, Associate Director, INSEAD Career Development Centre

How can we work with students, stay close to what matters, and help them bridge from hi-tech to hi-touch? The INSEAD team has developed a Career Coaching programme that combines core classes, group activities, and one-on-one sessions with several technology and survey modules. Blending the hi-tech with hi-touch has increased student engagement and introduced interaction in a structured programme allowing all students a voice. Evelyne and Katja will share the details of the programme, including examples of tools we use it to give you a first-hand experience. There will be plenty of time for experience sharing and Q&A.
