Greetings from your new President!
Newly elected CSEA President Maggie Tomas shares her vision for the organization.
I'm Maggie Tomas, and I proudly lead the Business Career Center at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, bringing over 20 years of dedication to career services. I came into this profession with the goal of helping students identify work that helps them grow professionally and personally. Our world needs workers who are happy and healthy. In career services, we play an integral part of that as we train future leaders on how to pursue and manage meaningful careers. My journey with CSEA spans over 12 years, beginning with attending my first conference in Seattle. I left inspired, brimming with new ideas and connections that fueled my commitment to our craft. Throughout my involvement, I've met incredible individuals who've supported me through challenges like global pandemics and industry transitions. I've also had the privilege of contributing to the organization by planning global conferences, serving on multiple committees, and fostering professional networks. Each involvement has enriched me personally and professionally, helping me feel seen, not alone, and inspired to continue to push our industry forward and innovate.
I encourage all members to engage actively — whether through attending conferences worldwide, presenting insights, joining resource groups, or shaping our industry standards. This year, CSEA unveils its new name and branding, reflecting our dynamic industry's evolution and our continued mission to bring together career services professionals across business programs and employers. CSEA remains your platform for meaningful connections, idea exchange, and advancing employment standards.
I am thrilled to continue this journey with you as your president. Together, let's continue to ensure we are striving for connection, innovation, and inclusivity.
Warm regards,
Maggie Tomas
